You'd think given the amount of players who wield SM, that more would be interested in having it fixed.

P.S: Justice you better get rank 1 on 2v2 ladder by the end of this season, just so that to shove it in the face of those idiots who claimed it was only a properly working SM that allowed you to beat them at the start of the season.

P.P.S: There is something that I'm curious about though, would the staff be fine with a fix for this issue if it were to come from changes made at Trinity Core :?:.

Well if Nyeriah won't touch it, someone else will (if needed). Either our other Devs or Trinity.
My point is, she did not say it won't be looked at. She just said she won't get involved in it anymore.

I'll try 1000 hits and see what the results is, in theory I should get closer the more attempts I do.

Also talking about probability, program-wise... I have noticed that some things it is not always as they should be, maybe it's a TC issue?
Sounds like you are committing the gambler's fallacy. If you look at some plots of coin flips where the number of trials is in the 1000's, you'll still see some runs in the experiment which are pretty volatile.

Anyway, 100 hits is a damn small sample size to conclude anything with confidence. If you want to check whether the probability is 20% i recommend that you use some statistical tests. I would recommend the posterior probability density function approach described in the preamble and it has an example described below using coins.

Unrelated but an interesting read.

I should add that most statisticians seem to prefer the estimator of true probability approach, I just don't know where you're going to get the data from, maybe you have a shadowmourne character on retail with whom you can test it out?

That would be probably the best, as staff here also says that nothing in wotlk was changed after the new expansion (aka they didn't try to rebalance items etc). Some staff said that while we were still in dispute whether Val'kyrs are too fast or not.

Also thanks for the links, I'll read them later on, SomethingWitty.

Not sure if they ban SM in PvP or not in retail, never played it. Regardless, we're had this discussion already 500 times. Any ranged can beat a SM'er no matter what, as long as you are more skilled and able to survive. We've had this discussion about so many times and it gets boring with "ban this and that item in BG's and arena's". Also from all level 80's there is on this server, 41,02% of the server can wield SM, not 80% or maybe I understood you wrong. Regardless, of this I don't see how your input even has something to do with this thread when we post proof of this and that theory of the proc, a kinda' useless comment input stating "ban SM from PvP", it's not even about that. I did wrong at first to misjudge the content of this topic too I must admit but I advice you to now also reconsider next time you post, just like I had to do.

Furthermore, I haven't found any "count hits" addon other than recount (which shows how many times you've hit, crit, missed etc) and have not seen any addon count proc's yet. The most optimal solution for my problem to count procs would be just sit there and hit, cancel the proc at 10 shards and then just count and count. Unless anyone else has any suggestions?

I have already posted this, but I don't think people checked this seriously.

The guy who tested this, isn't just some random tester. It's Landsoul, the guy who made Landsoul's spreadsheet (the most accurate spreadsheet for warriors), prime theorycrafter for warriors and he has an item named after him Landsoul's Horned Greathelm

This is the model of how it should be for warriors, paladins and deathknights.

^ was not ignored by me at least... I'm trying to find a retail char with SM from guildies and I'm ready to buy 1 or 2 months just to test this shit out. I know that armor pen was converted to haste but that shouldn't change the PPH formula.

On TW it does go well together with being around 20% so that's correct, developers are not lying. Not saying that is the retail proc chance but it came to be approximately 20.7% probability to proc on hit.

These are not 1 procs, but 10 procs. So my first Chaos was at 43, second at 86 etc. Sometimes it didn't proc for 1 minute and the stacks were cancelled, but that is also noted below.
1st: 43
2st: 86
3rd: 146
4th: 194
5th: 237
6th: 280
7th: 375
8th: 466
9th: 513
10th: 553
11th: 578
12th: 628
13th: 678
14th: 720
15th: 789
16th: 845
17th: 875
18th: 930
19th: 985

Procs reset on: 9 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 17
Hits not counting: 1 (this is why I did 1001 hits instead of 1000, I accidentally didn't cancel 10 stack proc too quick enough and I hit 1 extra).
Total soul fragments: 190 + 17 = 207

61,666666666666666666666666666667 minutes = 207 procs

3,3567567567567567567567567567567 procs / minute

PPH = 0.20699999...

Image

Now that we know that, let's find retail chars and test out that PPH. Some staff even said that they don't change the shit in previous expansions so WotLK should be untouched (cba finding the post that some staff member stated when everyone were going bananas about Val'kyr speed).

Also #7 comment is refering to the dps gain when canceling Bane, which means a 10 seconds 270 strength proc is outweighted by the damage of the Chaos Bane proc, which clearly proves that in order to do more damage than 270 (10s) bonus the chaos should proc several times during 10 seconds hence huge loads of shards per second generated.

This again proves the eligibility of the fix Nye made.
So friendly friend linked me this http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/patch-notes/3-3-3 and I'll quote "Shadowmourne: Tooltip clarified to indicate this item triggers only from melee weapon attacks."
So I wonder, isn't this only the white hits? Yellows being known as Special Attacks?

But it's the 3.3.3 patch notes.
In your World of Warcraft folder you have this document called Patch. If you double-click that document you will display all patch notes, and while easily modified in a copypaste, you can all go there and compare your own notes to mine.
These are the notes that came after 3.3.3 and none of them states a change to Shadowmourne.

Assault on the Ruby Sanctum

For ages the red dragonflight and its noble matriarch, Alexstrasza
the Life-Binder, have dedicated themselves to preserving all life on
Azeroth. Recently, the very heart of this virtuous dragonflight has
come under threat.

An eerie silence has settled over the Ruby Sanctum, the red
dragonflight's sacred lair within the Chamber of the Aspects. This
troubling development has led to fears that the sanctum, home to
Azeroth's largest clutch of red dragon eggs, has been breached by an
unknown, sinister force. If these claims are true and immediate
action is not taken, the benevolent red dragonflight might be
crippled forever.

Real ID: A New Way to Connect With Your Friends on Battle.net

One of our goals for the new Battle.net is to create the framework
for an online gaming experience that is even more accessible, more
engaging, and more entertaining than the previous Battle.net. The
newly released Real ID feature, available to World of Warcraft
players as part of patch 3.3.5, is an integral part of this effort,
providing you with advanced ways for forming and maintaining
meaningful relationships with your friends on the service.

Real ID is a completely voluntary and optional level of identity
that keeps players connected across all of Battle.net. When you and
a friend mutually agree to become Real ID friends, you'll have
access to a number of additional features that will enrich your
social gaming experience in new and exciting ways. More details can
be found here: http://us.battle.net/realid/?rhtml=y

General

- The Ruby Sanctum, an all-new 10- and 25-player raid dungeon
featuring normal and Heroic difficulties, has been added! Players
will find the dungeon entrance below Wyrmrest Temple in
Dragonblight. Please note due to the way this patch is being applied
in all regions, this dungeon will not immediately be available in
North America. Stay tuned to our General Discussion forum for an
official announcement on the opening of the Ruby Sanctum:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board ... 0001&sid=1
- The functionality of the Vote Kick feature in the Dungeon Finder
will now behave differently according to a player’s history with the
system. Players using the Dungeon Finder who rarely vote to kick
players from a group, or rarely abandon groups before a dungeon is
complete, will find that the Vote Kick option will have no cooldown.
For players who frequently abandon groups or vote to kick other
players, the Vote Kick option will be kept on a cooldown. This
functionality will adjust itself as a player’s behavior while using
the Dungeon Finder changes.

User Interface

- Chat Frame
Players can now right-click on any chat type (Whisper, Trade,
General, Party, Raid, etc.) and choose to move conversation types
into separate windows. This will move that chat type to a separate
tab in the Chat frame which can be undocked and moved anywhere on
the screen.
Using the Move to Whisper Window option on a Whisper will place the
conversation with that player in a separate tab.
Any time a conversation with another player is put into its own tab,
the tab will glow when a new message is received.
Hovering over the Chat Frame and using the mouse wheel will allow
players to scroll through chat text.
Players can select Classic Mode under Interface Options to keep the
Chat Frame functionality closer to what it was prior to patch 3.3.5.
The Simple Chat User Interface option has been removed.
- Friends List
A new icon has been added to the top left of the Chat Frame which
will open up the Friends list.
In addition to its current functionality, the Friends List will now
allow players to add Battle.net accounts (Real ID). Players will
have to confirm that they are friends in order for a Real ID to be
added. Once Real ID friends, players can communicate cross-game,
cross-faction and cross-realm.
A new Pending tab has been added where players can accept or decline
a Real ID friend request, or select the Report Spam or Block
Communications buttons.
Players can now select from three statuses which will be visible to
their friends: Available, Away and Busy.
A Broadcast window has been added to the top of the frame. Players
can use this to broadcast a message to all of their Real ID friends
online. This message will also be displayed under the broadcaster’s
Real ID information in each friend’s list.
