Testing realm

The "Realm of Endless Cookies" used by players to test stuff has ran out of cookies and has been closed.
From now of the realm formerly known as Staff test Realm and used by staff and tester will be the only testing realm.It is now called Public Test Realm.It will always be available to staff/testers just as before,but...from now on players will use this realm to test stuff instead of the Cookie realm.

Normal players will have to rebuild their testing chars on this realm.
Staff/testers will have to go into the WTF folder and rename the folder named "Staff Test Realm" to "Public Test Realm" to maintain your addon settings.

Don't worry, the Cookies Vendor is still available to supply you with cookies.

Just to clarify, absolutely nothing will change for permanent testers (or for the casual player testers). But before, we had two copies of the exact same server running and we decided it'd be more efficient to run it on a single server instead, since they were pretty much identical. There's also the fact that permanent testers can now also ask other players to assist them when the server is open to public :D

Only for permanent testers and Staff members. It'll follow the same rules as PTR used to, being available to the crowd only at specific times.

Great job, it's a very nice change.

If I may suggest, the spawn points, for example alliance in elwin forest, had the vendors and a training dummy. Can multiple training dummies be added next to the current one? Because if I recall corectly the only dummy that existed near the spawn point it was a level 70 or 80, which has lower defensive stats than heroic dummy (boss simulation) so it will be a great thing to have multiple level dummies for the players who are testing their gear setups.

On the other hand, I noticed that when I went on "Cookies realm" my paladin was missing Seal of Vengeance/Corruption spell from the book and I could learn few Death Knight abilities too (not so bad bug).

There are major ongoing changes currently and sadly we had to remove the vendor patch. Players were or will be given commands to suppress the loss, but currently this is far away from being a priority

What's the reason for allowing everybody to use the test server in the first place, instead of just devs?

because fixes are applied there first, and players should want to test the fixes, to see if they crash the server or not, before those fixes are implemented on the live realm

What blackluster said alot of the things that were added were heavy mods to the core (ACE -> Boost) so having a lot of players test the server is more reasonable then blind updating.

Since the PTR is opened 24/7, how about removing the ad from ingame, kinda gives inaccurate information in current case....
