PvP Hit rating scaling with level

#1 » Post by ribbaribbahey » 27 Jul 2015 00:13

I couldn't find the formula anywhere for pvp, but the hit rating 70 vs 79 is just bullshit. look here, this is vs a lv 80 fr simplicity. The miss chance for some spells seems just ridicolous...please check the code for eventual bugs

Im not even sure if its 100% legit vs targets of same lvl, but i can confirm its way too off when fightning higher level targets.

I think the only way so many spells would miss is if they're using the spell hit table from pve in which miss chance against higher level targets increases at a very rapid pace (chance to miss spell vs same level target is 4% but against a target 3 levels higher is 17%).

Put it this way if you like let's say level 1 and you try hitting an 80 mob you will miss of course i remember back in the days when a little level 70 twink can destroy some level 79 and Vaen is actually right

I saw a lvl 19 land a concussive shot on a fresh 80 outside SW Yesterday oo

He could have won a lottery with that luck, but instead he hit a concussive shot on a character 61 levels above.

from the table here http://wow.gamepedia.com/Spell_hit a rough estimation of the formula for spell hit at 3+ lvls of difference in pvp seem to be
(lvldiff - 2)*7 + 6
That in my test run would lead to a 62%
BUT I had 9.99 (=10)% spell hit, and the dummy player had no tank items with improved defense skill or +miss talents. This means that the value expected of spell miss is around 52%: while frostbrand is in a good range, earth shock is borderline, but lightning bolt is completely off-limits.

I couldn't include purge because firtsly recount doesn't take into account the landed purges but only the misses, and secondly because purge level 2 hits separately with 2 dispels, but i can assure you the misses were ridicolous too

at lvl 80 in a single bg i missed two physical spells in a row three times on the same undead lock, 5.2% hit.

I believe its not just lvl difference that is bugged.
