Lag problems...

#1 » Post by Myaoming » 19 Aug 2011 10:46

Hi there
im having some serious lag issues when playing...
when im questing its 600 ms+
when im dueling in the sewers its 1k+
in my last rhc it was 2k+
in bg i have random lag spikes...
i get a huuuuge lag spike when they start attacking a boss in ICC 10/25 (25 more often) and the lag spike ends when the boss dies... its totally unplayable
my net is working great outside wow
my latency used to be 400-500 ms everywhere wich is playable
i did a tracert to login.truewow.org and i got this :

Hello Slardar,
Slardar wrote: 6 * * * Request timed out.

from the trace it appears that the lag is caused by the timeouts in hop 6 and 7, which means that there is a problem somewhere on the route between your PC and the TrueWoW server. There is nothing wrong with your connection, just the servers that redirect the packets do not respond, the packets get lost and you experience lag. The company providing these servers probably have some issues atm, that is why the problems with lag appeared only recently, and there is high probability that they will be solved soon and your lag should not be present anymore. Playing on wifi may also cause some problems, it is advisable to connect via ethernet cable when playing MMO games if possible, since the amount of packets sent/received is rather big. Hope that answers your questions ;)

i finaly found out why i had some many lag some days and others dont.
My net operator just cut my net speed some times because i use it a lot.
well... when i'm not playing wow i'm downloading. =P
and the worst think is that the operator allwais cut the speed when i'm doing icc25 like yesterday.
/cry
i ended my contract with this net last moth. i'm thinking in change operator now and hope i will finaly do icc with no lag. =)
You did a bad think? Does it affect me? No? Them Suffer in Silence.
You Crying now? You have no reason to cry, if some one cries is because they are sad.
For example,i cry because people are stupid what makes me sad.
And i'm not insane, my Mother had me tested.

I have lag for a week already. The net is perfect outside WoW and used to be great while in-game, even. But, now, while I duel, go dungeons, or go RGBs, I get short random lag spikes. Everything is moving dynamically and even the damage people inflict on me is registered and I see it, but my own actions are lag-like. I hit different keys for spells and get up to five highlighted at some times. I die before I get to heal myself and survive at least a little longer (I failed at an arena match because of this), or even finish off someone before he does the same (same thing happened at the arenas >_>). This really ruins my timing and performance. :S

Try running a traceroute while you experience the lag, there are guides in the most recent topics here...

I made it just right about now, without going in WoW and wait for a random lag spike at a random time. I'll do another one when that happens. I just made it so you can see. I don't understand much about cmd, so, some explanation on things could help me in the future.

Okay, I'm back. I tried doing a check right when I got lag. This is what I get.

Just like usually, connection between Europe and US, Asia and US, Australia and US. There are starting problems.

Either move to USA or just deal with that.

Does deleting Cache/WTF/Interface folders help? What else can I do? >_>

Deleting cache/interface/wtf folders resets the client to default settings and might remove some problems if they were caused by corrupted cache data or addons. The * in the traceroute means the request to contact a hop timed out, therefore it is probable packets get lost on their way to the server and this causes lag and/or disconnections. That's a provider issue and there is nothing you can do about that personally, apart from contacting your ISP and telling them there are connection issues. Though I would wait a couple of days to see if the issue does not get fixed by itself :)

@Tehowner, your connection is fine. Problem lies somewhere else. I know that I have crapy pc after I had to remove 1 ram piece but I had always problems with stability and performance in every single raid 20+, espacially both Ahn'Qiraj, TBC raids that I tryied, BWL (sometimes), Icecrown (always at bosses before). Fortunately MC and ZG were working always fine. And I found source of my problems - addons. Those that are reading from cached data. I did yesterday both raids in Silitius with ALL addons disabled and didn't had any single lag spike or connection problem. Before with all addons that I use I had like 1-3 fps in AQ20/40, with disabled I had already 30+, while latency was and is always the same (around 120ms).

Delete cache (wtf keeps your and your addons settings), then after logging into your account disable all addons, then go and play a bit. There is nothing else you can do.

That's just it, I don't have any addons. And it's been already two weeks since the first lag spike. Now it's even worse. Every day since the last one, I receive lag spikes more and more often, and when I press a directional button or anything else, my character moves after two seconds, but for double the amount of time I kept my finger on that directional key. I once fell off a cliff and managed to use Hand of Protection before I could die from the fall. Today, in a duel, I had perfect timing for my spells. So perfect that I had five highlighted at once and only the first one I pushed cast, the rest didn't. My lag spikes normally last five seconds or more, which is more than 5k ms if I remember right, but the computer icon displays around 200-500 only. When I type, I type faster than the chat can display the letters. It's so slow that once two whole words were missing from what I wrote at the very beginning of that sentence. My FPS rate is 30-70 now, since my video card problems are over now. I've also tried using Reduce Input Lag as an option, but it still persist the way it is. It's just lowering my fps rate greatly. I don't know what I could do either. I'll try deleting all three folders and doing some scans or something else to see what the problem could be.

Do disk defragmentatio, if you don't use any addons, and even on low settings you have problems maybe it's because of times, that client needs to load files. Your connection is looks fine, espacially if everywhere else is ok.
